Monastery`s

The legendary monastery Zaova is placed 12 km southern from the road Požarevac – Petrovac, in the Toponica village area, 1,5 km southern from village in colorfully valley, overgrown with dense forest and bordered with brooklets on west and east side. This church has built in accordance of Prince Lazars directive, but from 1993th year, it becomes monastery. Church of today, built on the primary building base, has a very rich and interesting enterer, with dominant sister Jelica’s grave, altar separated from priceless iconostasis. There is also silver cross, silversmith’s work, a gift from princess Julija.
Monastery keeps a big part of our national and cultural treasure. It’s worth to come and visit monastery of Zaova because of all that it possess.


The monastery of Bradaca is placed in Kula village area under Bubanj hill; in valley surrounded by oak and beech forest, between two brooklets that join together below the monastery and flow in Vitovnica river.
This monastery is related to the sister’s Jelica cult. People believe that on the place where monastery is now; in past there sister’s chin was fall down. So, it is Prince Lazar’s foundation.

During XVI till XVII century this monastery was ruin, but it is renovated in 90ies of XX century, built with broken rocks. Main and the only enter in church is on the west side.


Monastery of St. Petka

The monastery of St. Petka is placed in Smoljinac village, over the lake. It has built in forest valley that possesses a few water-springs. This locality is not researched enough, jet, but is related for a lot of legends and stories. Near the monastery, beside the spring there is a willow; and every year, on the “Vrbica” holiday water flow from that tree. The nature that surrounding monastery seems so mystical so people connect it with something preternatural, something that happened always by the night, and actors mostly has been myth-creatures. Stories like those always have been attractive for many people who come to see this place.
